What You Need to Know About Proper Maintenance of Electric Vehicles

by | Jul 11, 2024 | Car Safety, Hybrid/Electric Cars

Tesla took the early lead and developed the first electric vehicles. Since then, other major manufacturers have followed suit and electric vehicles have proliferated. As of June 2024, there are approximately 50 different electric cars currently available to new car buyers. Since the maintenance of all electric vehicles is like Teslas, I will use the Tesla vehicle line to demonstrate proper maintenance of your electric vehicle.

Inverter Coolant Service is also important

Electric vehicles must store that electricity in a direct current (DC) battery. Since the drive motor uses alternating current (AC), the inverter must be used to change DC power to AC power. This process creates a large amount of heat in the inverter as current is changed from DC to AC, so a cooling system must be used. This is much like the cooling system on an engine. In general drain and filling this system is enough unless the coolant is very dirty or contaminated in some way.
