As the hotter summer weather draws near, it is important to ensure that your car’s cooling and air conditioning system can handle the heat and keep you and your family comfortable when you drive your car. Here is a quick checklist of what you need to look for to see if you are cool enough to drive in hot weather:
- Check the coolant level in your car to make sure the level is between the “min” and “max” levels in the reservoir. If this is not the case, bring your car in to have it checked.
- If the coolant is low and you decide to refill it. Make sure to use the type of coolant specified in your owner’s manual.
- Check your radiator for any leaks. Also look for any signs of rust or corrosion.
- If your car is going in for a spring checkup, have your mechanic inspect the hoses, thermostat, water pump and cooling fan. Issues with these can cause problems in your cooling system.
- Finally, turn on your air conditioner to make sure it is blowing cold air. If this is not the case, take your car in to have your A/C system checked or repaired.
