New customers of BA Auto Care come to us for a variety of reasons. Some are here for “just an oil change” while others may have a “shopping list” of issues for us to check out. Regardless of the length or urgency of the list, it is our job to accurately assess these requests and then address them efficiently and effectively. We will maintain your car the right way, whether its routine maintenance or a troublesome repair.
Often, we will recommend a comprehensive analysis of safety and reliability items so we can establish a baseline of the general condition of the customer’s vehicle. This service could be the car manufacturer’s routine maintenance service and diagnostic checklist or just a courtesy inspection. However, our number one goal is to recommend services and procedures that reflect the following:
- Your preferred way of maintaining your car
- Your vehicle’s history of past maintenance and repair
- How you use your vehicle (annual mileage, percentage of highway miles, time spent in stop and go traffic and so forth.)
- The issues with your car that are most important to you
Very often, new customers are not sure what to ask us to check. In this case, we perform a courtesy check by reviewing their maintenance and repair history. When this is complete, we follow up with our service and maintenance recommendations.
A common situation is the “check engine light” coming on. When this happens, our service writer or a technician will scan the computer to identify the codes present. Using this information we can recommend the best “diagnostic pathway” and possible charges and repairs.
To help our customers to understand the services we perform, we use the BA Auto Care “Handbook.” An example of how the handbook helps our customers understand a repair is on page 14, which explains how we approach check engine light” issues.
Another common issue we address is noise, vibrations, and harshness (NVH). We troubleshoot this issue by filling out the “diagnostic form” together. Followed by a road test in the car with the customer. This shows our new customer the diagnostic pathway we are going to follow to find out about the problem with the car, along with the potential repair costs.
We will work with you on properly maintaining your car so you can drive safely and extend the longevity of your vehicle.
