Recently, my granddaughter asked me about Net Zero Energy in Maryland. I sent her a link to the Maryland Department of the Environment. But then I realized I should tell her about BA Auto Care’s own journey to achieving net zero in our business. Our commitment to sustainability isn’t marketing. It’s action. We’re proud recipients of the EPA Energy Star Award and the Maryland Green Registry Leadership Award.

Here is what we did to achieve net zero and reduce our carbon footprint:

Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy

  • 185 rooftop solar panels generate 100% of our electrical energy
  • Solar light tubes provide over 60% of workshop lighting
  • Automated LED lighting adjusts based on natural light
  • Reflective white interior paint reduces lighting demand

Waste & Resource Management

  • Waste oil heater reduces natural gas usage by 50%
  • Plastic waste reduced to 1/12th of 2009 levels
  • 95% of shop chemicals replaced with environmentally friendly alternatives
  • Reusable floor mats and seat covers replace disposables

Transportation & Community Impact

  • All-electric courtesy shuttle powered by solar
  • 4-day work week option reduces employee commute emissions
  • Native landscaping reduces runoff and eliminates mowing

After nearly 48 years in business, we believe being a responsible auto repair facility means caring for both your vehicle and our environment. Sustainability isn’t just a trend to follow. It’s our responsibility.
