This came in handy recently. It has been getting colder outside and one morning at college, when I went to get in my car, the door was difficult to open. With further effort I was able to pull the door open and I noticed ice in the door frame.
The back door was also iced shut. It had rained a lot the day before so I assumed it got into my door frames and froze. I used my BA Auto Care ice scraper to chip the ice out of my door frames, then texted my aunt and grandad. I told them what had happened and asked, “Is it bad that there was ice in my door frames?”
Aunt Sandi responded promptly, “No. It is pretty normal after rain and freezing temperatures.” This eased my nerves. She said that wiping some rubber seal protector on the seals of the door should help with my problem. I neither have rubber seal protector with me, nor feel the need or motivation to apply it, but it was nice to know the solution to my issue if it became recurring and bothersome.
This got me thinking about how lucky I am to have auto mechanics just a text away. Texting them saved me the time and money to take my car to a repair shop for something that turned out to be normal.
I hope reading this story helps you if you have experienced a similar problem. There is no reason to worry about ice in your door frame, having an ice scraper, possibly a BA Auto Care one like me, will come in handy during the winter season, and rubber seal protector is a more effective, long term fix.
