Help British American Auto Care Give to the Howard County Community

Is your organization looking for a practical way to help families in need this season? Here at British American Auto Care, we are collecting non-perishable items and monetary donations for the Howard County Food Bank (HCFB), from October 1st through November 11th, 2011.

In fiscal year 2009, the HCFB provided 104,161 pounds of food, infant care, and personal care items to 3,683 individuals. In 2010, the figures were 150,451 pounds and 5,392 individuals. Both categories have grown over 40% in just one year!  We hope you will join us this year in helping to make things better for families going through tough times.

Items you can donate include food, infant care items, and personal care items. The full list is posted at the entrance to British American Auto Care, but here’s a partial list:

  • Soups (canned/cup of noodles/ramen noodles)
  • Microwaveable meals
  • Dry pasta/rice/flour/beans/lentils
  • Canned or jarred sauces/gravies/chili
  • Tea/hot chocolate
  • Canned tuna/chicken
  • Hot and cold cereals
  • Cooking oils
  • Condiments
  • Cake/cookie mixes and icing
  • Baby/toddler food
  • Infant formula
  • Aluminum foil/plastic wrap
  • Re-sealable bags (various sizes)

And don’t forget about upcoming holiday foods!

For tax-deductible monetary donations, checks can be made out to: Community Action Council of Howard County. Write “food bank” on the memo line, and our office can take your donation.

If your family is a family in need, assistance is available through the Howard County Community Action Council. You can find information on assistance for housing, food, energy, and other services a their website, https://www.cac-hc.org/.

If you would like to drop your donations off directly at the HCFB, they take donations Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m..  Their distribution hours are: Mondays 1 – 6 p.m., Tuesdays 1 – 4 p.m., and Thursdays 1 – 4 p.m.

To drop off food with at British American Auto, we are open are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. till 6 p.m. And, we will be open Columbus Day (10/10) and Veterans’ Day (11/11).

Brian England, the current president of BA Auto Care (formerly British American Auto Care), got his start with an auto apprenticeship in a small town in northwest of London. He came to the U.S. in 1972 to work for a Land Rover dealer in Rockville, MD. A few years later, he started British American Auto Care with his wife, Jennifer.
