At the beginning of the year, my daughter Sandi and I reviewed BA Auto Care’s Apprenticeship Plan to see what has worked over four decades and to design a program that would be successful in the 21st century. Our Maryland Certified apprenticeship plan has been in place for 40 years now and has been an important ingredient to our success as a top tier automotive repair shop.

As the holiday season approaches, I always start thinking about the importance of serving others in our community, especially neighbors and friends who are facing difficulties during a time when most of us are celebrating. Although Howard County has dozens of agencies ready to support families in need, accessing that support can be a daunting task. What we need is a “social safety blanket,” led by local government with the support of local churches, synagogues and non-profit groups that makes it easy for neighbors in need to access services.

The recent flooding in Ellicott City was a stark reminder of a couple of things. First of all, that as neighbors, when some are negatively impacted, we are all negatively impacted. Secondly, it underscored the importance of planned development.

The shift to warmer weather has many of us focused on enjoying more outdoor activities. In fact, May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month and this week is National Women’s Health Week.  Getting active is a great way to give your health a boost!

We recently sent an email out to all our customers announcing that we are shortening our name to BA Auto Care. We had a few customers respond back wondering why we would do this when we have earned an excellent reputation over the past 40 years as British American Auto Care.

A couple of weeks ago, one of the courtesy van drivers went on vacation, and the other was out sick, so I got to drive our customers to work and home in our new courtesy vehicle, the all-electric drive Chevy Bolt. All I can say is, wow, what a reaction!
